In 2001 Bryan Adams confirmed that the text is not authentic at all… At the said summer in 1969 Bryan Adams was just 9 years old… too young for such experiences! The text passage „Jimmy quit/Jody got married“ brings two former band members into mind. Obviously drummer Jim Wesley is meant – who left the band in 1981 to become a more financially successful carpet dealer – and Jody Perpick who is still active as tour manager and sound engineer for Bryan Adams.
The record was a very big success in the summer of 1985 in the USA but in the rest of the world it had only some moderate success. However over the years the song became more and more popular worldwide and developed to one of Bryan Adams most popular songs and is meanwhile a real party hit and head banger…
