Grown up with the many hits of Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR) I could not resist practicing some of their songs on the drum kit. Amongst their many hits I like especially „Proud Mary„… The song was written by John C. Fogerty in 1968 and published first time in January 1969. It is one of the best rock songs of all times and was in 1970 successfully covered by Tina Turner.
The song consists of three verses and is played in D major. In the original version of CCR a special guitar solo is being played between the second and the third verse. Distinctive for the song is the drum intro which can become a small challenge itself. In the original version of CCR the intro comes prior to the first verse, prior to the instrumental passage and prior to the third verse. You have to practice it…

Aufgewachsen mit den vielen Hits von Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR) habe ich es mir natürlich nicht nehmen lassen, einige ihrer Songs für das Schlagzeug einzuspielen. Unter den vielen Hits mag ich „Proud Mary“ ganz besonders… Der Song wurde von John C. Fogerty 1968 geschrieben und im Januar 1969 erstmalig veröffentlicht. Er zählt zu den besten Rocksongs aller Zeiten und wurde 1970 durch Tina Turner sehr erfolgreich gecovert….
Der Song hat drei Strophen und ist in D-Dur gesetzt. In der Version von CCR wird zwischen der zweiten und dritten Strophe ein Gitarrensolo gespielt. Außerdem ist für das Stück das Schlagzeug-Vorspiel charakteristisch welches eine kleine Herausforderung darstellt. Im Original vor der ersten Strophe, der Instrumentalpassage und der dritten Strophe gespielt wird. Muss man halt etwas üben…
