This cool blues-rock-song was composed and published in 1966 by J.J. Cale. But at this time the song was not very successful at all.
However Eric Clapton published a more rock-like and longer version on his first solo studio album. This was the break-through for J.J. Cale as songwriter and also a commercial success for him. Following an intense friendship developed between Eric Clapton and J.J. Cale and together they created a lot of further hits (mostly written by J.J. Cale).

Eric Clapton veröffentlichte 1970 dann eine wesentlich rockigere und längere Version des Songs auf seinem ersten Solo-Album. Dies verhalf J.J. Cale zum Durchbruch als Songwriter und war auch für ihn ein kommerzieller Erfolg. Daraus entwickelte sich eine intensive Freundschaft zwischen Eric Clapton und J.J. Cale. Gemeinsam haben sie für eine Vielzahl von Hits gesorgt (die meist aus der Feder von J.J. Cale stammten).
